Critics review of the production for the Northern Operatic & Dramatic Arts magazine

A strong feature of this show was the comedy, which was brought out well at every opportunity.

The singing was tuneful and complemented well by the large but never too loud orchestra. I would say however, that more attention needs to be given to the diction in the songs. I lost some of the lyrics in both chorus and solo numbers. This was in complete contrast to the spoken dialogue, which was clear and well executed.

This is a very enthusiastic group and this was transmitted to the audience. We all had a very entertaining evening. I would also like to mention the notes on aestheticism in the programme.

I found these very amusing and congratulate the author.'How earnestly precious' was the evening.
